Re: Star Citizen
oh man, this makes me really jealous. The game isn't open for beta nor alphas anymore. I'll have to wait till the game officially comes out now.

Re: Star Citizen
I believe the cheapest still for sale is the Aurora Standard with access to Alpha & Beta for 40 U$. Still some slots open for Alpha like 18000+.
If you ask an early or veteran backer to buy the ship for you, u will get LTI (life time insurance). Time to ask some friends.

but I don't think it is sill possible to gift a ship with LTI included, better be sure before spending someone else's money

Im 100% sure, if a veteran or early backer gift you that ship, it comes with LTI (before November 26, 2013).

Re: Star Citizen
Are you serious? Oh wow, in that case, I'll have to save up on my next paycheck and get somebody to buy me the ship...or wait, doesn't that come together with the Aurora standard?

No, we are talking about the insurance on the ship: when you loose your ship ( either destroyed or taken by pirates har har)hann.88 wrote:Are you serious? you get a new one in the hangar,
I don't know exactly how it will work and how long it will take to get the replacement but the general idea is that is not going to be an immediate respawn. There will also be some kind of controll to prevent insurance frauds.
You can buy insurance with in-game credits that you can either earn in the game itself or buy with real money.
Life Time Insurance (LTI) was only available for new pledgers untill few months ago (don't recall the exact date). At the moment only pledgers (backers and veterans) who subscribed before that above mentioned date can still buy ships with LTI.
A new pledger today can get a new ship with only 3 or 4 months of insurance included, after which you have to pay for it.

Re: Star Citizen
The new variants for the aurora are coming soon, they showed this week the legionaire model (green and sturdy), im thinking that a very good combo is the aurora + avenger. Or if u have the money just get a constellation and be done with it...
PS: Every time i sit behind the controls of my 325 i wet myself a bit....

Re: Star Citizen
I've signed for SC. Quite perplexed I can't fly my ship yet. Or destroy everyone else.
Was tempted to create a specific Moon Breakers group to keep the players in touch...
I see DOW already there and several Praetor/praetorian (MB unrelated) groups.
No Dead Men yet??? Probably all out eating pies and inhaling each others farts Nothing changes...

Re: Star Citizen
Organizations system has been launched, if any pilot without a home is feeling lonely and needs the warmth of a welcoming group of trusted friends, well, look elsewhere. If instead you want to join a wild bounch of thugs and cutthroats and enjoy fighting, looting, brawling with each other and the occasional backstab here is the application form :

Re: Star Citizen
Be advised that ALPHA (the Dog Fighting Module) should be launched by mid April and that there are only about 8.000 slots left, which will go faster as the date approaches.
If you haven't joined yet this next 2 months is your last chance, do not hesitate to contact me or one of the others if you need guidance before spending money.

This kinda confuses me. Of what use is a dogfighting module if losing your ship means you can't play for however long it takes to get it replaced?
Other questions - what controllers will this game support? What network/latency model does it use? What happens to your time-limited insurance if you're too casual a player to earn enough credits to renew it, however those credits are earned? The very idea of losing a ship that you've paid real money for, and a decent amount of money at that, really makes me pause & wonder about this game. Colour me "yet to be sold on Star Citizen".

@longshot
The insurance is only for the persistent multiplayer universe. The "burocratic" procedure is to prevent insurance fraud.
Controllers : everything, up to HOTAS and Oculus Rift
Network : no clue, you'll have to dig in the forum for that
This game is not for the too casual player, I mean there will be fast match-based gameplay (the DFM will evolve in a combat simulator, there will be racing circuits and more) but its core will be the roleplay in the verse. It's not going to be a free game. Atm for getting into the DFM you need spend at least 40$, don't know what will it be the complete release price ( in 2015/6 ? ), it will include the single player campaign (Squadron 42) and the persistent multiplayer universe with (I'm guessing) a basic ship like the Aurora.
When the insurance expires you do not automatically lose the ship, it needs to be taken from you (destroyed in combat or taken by evil pirates, like me ). They talked a lot about this and there always will be a way to earn few credits necessary to cover your insurance with "safe" jobs.
Don't wanna sell it to you but I'd love to fight you in there
Ciao
