Which one would you upgrade

I am having trouble figuring out which of the birds to upgrade. I own all three but in not too sure what to put the credits into.

I already have a :-

Fully upgraded G5
Nearly full F-3 Mamba
Nearly full M-3 Cobra
Nearly full B-10G Grizzly.

Which would you choose to upgrade and why. The why is the important thing as we all have different styles so i need to have an informed opinion.

The Sidewinder has the most utility of all the ships on your list (the Kingfisher and Mamba are next highest). It is one of the most multi-role craft in all 3 game modes.

I always try to upgrade a ship fully before I unlock another one. This gives you the opportunity to practice with it and figure out where best to use it (and perhaps more importantly, where not to use it).

LOL, Loki and I would argue over which is more utilitarian (Kingfisher is clearly the best all around fighter), we agree that you should upgrade the F-3X first. Not only is it more utilitarian then the others, but of the ships listed the F-3X benefits more from being ugraded. Un-upgraded the Sidewinder is OK, but when you fully upgrade the afterburner and fuel pump, this thing becomes one of the best fighters out there.

I have played with all of them standard. The F-3X i'm quite impressed with the handling. However the armor seems to have been forgotten about, especially with being use to the g5, I tend to keep going head 2 head like i do in the g5 and it normally ends quite bad.

The FM-25 armor/handling is, in my opinion, the best mix of the G5 and F3 BUT, i cannot seem to do much with the pulse beam??? dunno if i'm using it wrong though .

I fear the f-3x much more than the G5. In the right hands the f-3x fully upgraded is brutal (or most ships for that matter) but the combination of rocket rate, turn rate, speed, and burner fuel make it a real bitch to fight. It's would be my choice for your upgrade.

I can't fly it worth a crap. which makes me even more upset.

I am a very good Nighthawk cannoneer, so I might be a little biased, but I'd suggest fully upgrading the FM-25.
Mine is fully upgraded, and I consider it to be the best ship in the game.
It has nearly unparalleled range (Only other beamers can match it), it has good armor for it's role, and if you use it correctly, you can get some of the best kill numbers in any match. (I normally come in first in kill count. If I'm not first, I'm usually second. The only time that this didn't hold true was when I had Adama and Praetor Grant on my side. I was still within three kills of them...)

About the only downfall of the Nighthawk is the bad handling. If you get somebody on your tail, barring extenuating circumstances, you're gonna die. Of course, this is true with nearly every ship in game, but that's beside the point...

Beamships. Take. Practice.
The beam is a very different weapon from every other at mid to long ranges; you need to zoom in (F key is default zoom) and you will miss a lot.

At short ranges, beams start to take on the same feel as a heavy cannon, though your fire rate is greatly reduced. Drift around turrets and use your beams on them to get the hang of short range shooting without using the zoom scope.

One of the points I made above is that if you upgrade one ship at a time and use it during the upgrade process, you get loads of near-dedicated practice with that ship.
...just to be clear, I'm not suggesting that when you upgrade a bomber that you should use it for anything other than Carrier Assault...

Nighthawk has very low drift (60% of Mamba, which is lower than all bombers [bomber avg is 69% of Mamba]), but only because your max speed (afterburner) is very low. This means the Nighthawk will go exactly where you want it, but have to work hard to make it move like the other fighters. I'm very certain this was intended behaviour; it's supposed to be a sniper ship.

bombers that are slow to begin with (10G/H4B), upgrades won't improve it noticeably.

F3X will die from the first bump with only 50% speed, however, its shield begins to regenerate 4 seconds after your last damage taken (fastest in the game). so long as you're good at evading, a scrape here or there will regenerate faster than your opponent's. it is a very hit-and-run ship that survives by evasion and attacks frequently in small bursts. and the rockets and speed help it plenty in other game modes too...

beams on the nighthawk are fairly overpowered if you can aim them. that said the nighthawk is largely a defensive ship outside of S&D as it cannot give chase easily and it's cannon is a very high stakes risky weapon in a pinch.

id say sidewinder.

if you like to play SnD, I'd go for M3... it combines the powers of FM25(beam) and F3 (maneuverability, speed, MG)... but in the CA and CTF it is more than useless, so in general, go for F3X - it is my next choice after I save enough creds

F3X than Nighthawk... These two ships represents imo 2 poles in the game. Good to have them for fun. Switching between them is cool.

And very few ppl talk about the FH-100. It is a very good heavy. I manage to surprise decent fighters from time to time with it. They just sit in the distance, heading towards me. After 1 600 meters i give them a big surprise. XD So funny when they try to evade after the first few shots taken, but they cannot escape. It works max. 2 times btw in a match.

I can recommend FH-100. I love it.

Upgrade the Bison only after you have completed every other ship. This is the ship you use when you are clearly on the winning side of a slaughter, and have a sense of pity.

F3-X all the way! My opinion may be a little biased, but I think its one of the best ships along with the G5.

Actually i tend to "hate" G5 nowadays, as almost every decent pilot uses them... The game can become so boring fighting against almost only g5s and mambas... Decent pilots and newbies.

A few use other ships, which i appreciate. Problem is with the seeker missiles then. Those smart rockets are cheaty... I never tired of saying this.

thought so too... on some days it is still an annoyance, other days it is a refreshing challenge from 'use the best ship i have at all times' mentality i see most intermediate players resort to quite needlessly, and only to win.

disclaimer: after hitting intermediate skill level in any game, playing to win is almost pointless. i play to discover new ways of winning and get bored when there are none left in sight after that point.

I used the F-3X for a few games last night, all together i like it, REALLY needs the upgrades but the handling is spot on, the machine guns combined with the missiles are a brilliance combination.

Which leads me to changing my tactics as a couple of hits with a g5 cannon reduces me to atom sized pieces all over space .
