It's only a game

I know it's only a game, which I play not all that well, but basically for fun. However, I just had a game on the Euro server in which I was the sole flag runner in CTF, with a F-3X. The opposing team comprised two FM-25, one FH-90 and one G5. Needless to say, I was blown up continually, though did manage to capture the flag 3 times. The other team racked up lots of kills and bounty points. Was this a fun game? Maybe for them, certainly not for me. In my humle opinion, this kind of attitude is not good for the game, but unfortunately seems to be fairly prevalent. I'm not complaining about being beaten, I've been beaten plenty of times - just the method used, e.g. camping near the carrier waiting for me to arrive then belting hell out of me. Maybe if I were a better player it wouldn't have been so one sided. If I were a new player and copped that I would not be coming back for more.

That behaviour annoys everyone. Its just not cricket!

i see it as two issues:

1. team plays cricket (solo flag runner / bomber without assistance or even escort)

2. team uses excessive force

#2 you can argue with, but imo, it isn't fun if a team is excessively dominating. by that i mean making the choice to fly a ship that you are very good with, even when you're already at a lead to the other team. ive had a game recently where my team was mostly mambas (at least 4) vs 2 FH200's, an FM25 and an X99 amongst other one or two players... fun for me perhaps (35 or so kills that round) but i dont think the same goes for my team (most didnt score 5)... if nothing else, it's bullying the less experienced players out of an already dying game, and i find something inherently wrong with that.

Often this game deals out uneven teams and it stinks. Often I find myself the sole flag runner or bomber, and it gets to be grueling. It is not much fun, but if you stick with it in those situations, it really sharpens your skills.

If sticking with it isn't your cup of tea, then switch to your best ass kicking fighter and go collect some of those bounties the other team earned by pounding on you. There is something very rewarding about smoking the guy who shot you down 10 times. If there is one other guy on your team trying, sometimes this helps clear the carrier of defenders and helps the other guy achieve the desired goal.

I know I'm a little twisted, but I really enjoy when a carrier is really well defended. It makes getting the flag, or scoring with that nuke that much more rewarding.

I've tried to brief the reapers to play a more player friendly game and balance the classes where appropriate (not to say they all do it but at least I have tried to instil some ethos of balance!)... but there are a lot of non squad players that just run free rein over the noobie mambas.... i guess they get a kick out of massacring them in an over powered prestige or higher end ride....

Its really a lot of fun if you can drop to the general ship class in that round and more importantly the mambas will stay in the game if they are not subjected to repeated smackdown

But yes its also a challenge to go against a lot of high end ships..... some fun to be had in that as well.... but definitely not noob territory.... i shudder to think how many people have been scared off this game by playing for free maybe only one or two rounds and dying so frequently they just quit and uninstall.... i remember my first dozen or so rounds... intiation by fire !

I really should play this a bit more but have been a bit distracted by a couple of the recent FPS releases...

Hey dude, I've seen you in-game heaps. Yeah, I've noticed that the games are becoming very unbalanced... O.o Okay, I definitely hate people spawn killing... I've been spawn killed too many a time, and that's why I don't do that myself... Just ignore it and maybe go out of your way to target them after they target you? hehe xP
Yes, I've seen some newbies get thrashed something shocking. What I reckon they should've added, was a server for people under level 200 or something. Otherwise it'd be unbalanced... with the option of being able to fight alongside some of the aces.

Vanity

I should have added to my original post, that the players referred to were not Reapers, DMHS, Praetorians or members of any other squad as far as I am aware. I have found generally, that games with/against experts like those are both enjoyable and scary. They are soooo good. But fair. And they give comments and compliments in game as well. I think that generally speaking, the players in MB have a great attitude.

In unbalanced games, I love to get the noobs to chase me. Part of what I love about this game is flying through the asteroids, and if the noobs chase me through them, maybe they can catch a little of that excitement, too. Or rocks. They catch rocks a lot more often, which is still fun for me.

Sometimes I'll just start taking out turrets. Generally finding other things to do than shoot noobs, because where's the fun in that?

In really unbalanced games, I'll simply stop shooting at the other team. I'll fly towards their carrier, shoot near them, and then try my best to evade enemy fire. It's a lot of good practice just flying around.

As for solo flag running: boy howdy that's my favorite thing. Nothing's better than being chased down by an enemy ace, and seeing his ass get smashed on a rock.
If you're getting blown up too fast, fly something that isn't an eggshell with thrusters. G5'll get you there and back in plenty of time, with better shields to boot.

Very often the game is really unbalanced. In this case I'm trying to fly with Mamba and not to terrorise newbies, if only they are not threaten me. In my humble opinion, we all were newbies and were beaten by more skilfull opponents. As for me, this fact only provoked me to find new strategies in the field of battle and to get unvaluable experience - for this I must only thank my ruthless enemies I think, you shouldn't be angry on your enemy - you must be angry on yourself!

this is more or less why i call myself 'the anger'. if i get angry enough, i can learn anything and put it to use (as can everyone else if they allow themselves to)

super mambas get no special consideration from me.
