Fly a week for free Period

Post by Thuufir on Wed Sep 12, 2012 2:15 am

Hi there all

i was wondering if you still have ship test periods
after lvl 80 or something.

I saved some creds but cannot decide which ship i go for.

Now i am waiting for some "1 Week free" period to test my candidates - and
guys - i am waiting some time now ... so is it possible that
this free test periods are just for lower lvl ?

Otherwise i would take any hint or suggestions ...

have fun

WJ has previously said that a ship reset is coming, where all ship purchases/upgrades will be refunded in cred and we start again, but this time with a tech tree to decide between what aspects of a ship we upgrade and what we don't.

So ... I'd look at it as a bit of a risk-free move now. Choose whatever you think might be fun, if it doesn't work out then it doesn't really matter.

Not increased so much as changed. As I understand it, ships will be cheap to buy (and newbies will have enough credit to buy any one base-level ship) but upgrades more expensive. There'll be a wider range of stats to choose from in upgrading - things like turning rate and heat sink for instance - the upgrades will improve the ship more than the current 12% cap, but you'll only be able to go so far before you have to choose some categories at the expense of others, making each "fully upgraded" ship quite unique to each pilot.

With the new upgrade system, I still wonder, if I will be able to only buy let's say 20 upgrades of 40 possible or if I will be able to buy all upgrades and attach some of them depending on game mode etc.? Any infos about that?

They've said we'll be limited to half of the total upgrades, so you have to pick and choose.

We've asked if you can make more slots available for really expensive prices (around 1 mill or more per additional slot), but haven't heard back yet.

I read the comments from WJ, too, but it wasn't clear if he limits the slots or the upgrades you can buy. With slots I mean the amount of upgrades you can attach to a ship. The amount of these slots should be equal for every player. I just want to buy all upgrades and then choose and maybe change depending on game mode. I don't care if I have to pay tons of credits to get all the upgrades. Because even if you can buy 40 upgrades, but only attach 20 of them the limit will work. I really hope the system will be flexible because a) I think it would be really frustration if you buy an upgrade for a lot of credits and then realize you chose wrong. b) I use ships in different ways. For example the G5 for hunting bombers, where more firepower is probably a good idea, and dogfighting or attacking turrets, where you want to be more agile.

I think he's got some ideas for how to make multiple builds for the same ship work.

I asked WJ and he gave me this answer:

The upgrades will be generic. They will give you points you can put into improving a single stat. You will be able to change how your points are allocated whenever you want. You will only be able to put 5 points into a single stat and 25 to 30 (I am not sure which yet) into each ship. Each ship will have 15 different stats that can be upgraded (9 common to all ships, and 6 for the ships weapons). --wj

That's what I heard too.
Now when you say buy more slots Loki, do you mean by further improvement to the ship or buy extra upgrade load outs to choose from.
if you mean further improvement... I could not be more against this, being some what Pay to Win is the biggest complaint many have against this game.
If you mean extra load outs I totally agree.

I've heard several people discussing both additional upgrade slots and extra load outs.
