Hi Folks
Hi. I'm a Brazilian player - mostly on the South America server through google chrome(i've tried the steam client version - but i keep getting the "Authenticating with UberNet Failed" error message - so my framerate is capped at 10fps on low on an empty broadsides map even though my computer exceeds the system requirements by far).
The playerbase there is rather small - so i keep practicing(and grinding credits) by soloing the carrier on broadsides - and getting about 6.5k every 10 minutes(it usually takes less but the time it takes to veto enough times to get that map/mode chews up the rest of the time). So far i've managed to grind my way to a nighthawk(which i can't really play with due to low framerates) and 100k credits i'm saving up for a Stingray i'm planning to use for turretbusting. I also ocasionally play on US East, getting awful scores due to low framerates.
As of the time of this writing i'm level 29 - which is interesting(or is it useless?) seeing i've started 2 days ago.
EDIT: the first 3 stripes rank is level 30.

Re: Hi Folks
Hello, and welcome
I think I've seen you once or twice on the US West server.
Grinding against turrets and carriers is a great way to get practice (and creds).
Levels are...kinda useless these days, but the autobalancer in the lobby still uses it to determine which team you're put on.
I hope you can resolve your Steam client issue and venture out into the larger world with better framerates!

Re: Hi Folks
carrier soloing gets boring at times - it takes 15 nukes and at least 5 minutes worth of reloading to get one down - which is over twice the time i take to open a blindspot on broadsides and getting a bomber to it.
I've recently purchased the stingray(mainly because of faster projectile velocities - i tend to underlead far too much when piloting my mamba). so far it looks like a ship made to get assits with - but doesn't have problems getting kills. i think i made about 2 or 3 newbies ragequit with it because they tried to charge right into it with mambas and getting promptly killed before even getting into weapon range.
it also looks like an apt anti-bomber ship, but i just can't finish them off with the framerates - they either get out of the way, escort their remote-detonation nuke(zoom doesn't help much with the cannon either) or get someone to assist them.
I've been considering getting to the kingfish - and them i'm undecided whether to take a light fighter with better acceleration, a heavy with 4 machineguns or a Panther for flagtanking.

Re: Hi Folks
the G5 Kingfisher should start the game unlocked.
Barring that, it should be everyone's first unlock. It is possibly the best bomber hunter, one of the fastest sprinters (making it a popular flag runner), loves to drift (making it a popular turret killer), and these things in combination with the fast cannon and the very fast-reloading remote detonating rockets make it more than capable of hunting heavies as well.
The G5 is simply the most mufti-functional ship in the game.
the only thing it can't do is nuke carriers... but you've got a rhino for that already. More importantly, so do your teammates, & that G5 can create the opening they need to get that torpedo in.

Re: Hi Folks
Kingfisher is a great choice for your next ship.
I advise against "flagtanking" with a bomber. You'll make a lot of people angry with those tactics. Kingfisher is an excellent flag runner.
Some tips for the Stingray;
Fly head to head from a long way off. Use the Zoom to blow away opponents!
Use the fast afterburner to escape when you're swarmed.
Stingray is a big target. When near the enemy carrier, pop a missile off vaguely in the direction of the carrier to distract turret fire.
Take down those bombers or A80s extremely quickly. Stingray is great for carrier defense or vs bombers in S&D.
Missiles are great for racking up assists or finishing off those who try to run.

Re: Hi Folks
my main problem with one is getting to land cannon hits at the turrets without heading head-on to them - it just doesn't drift as nicely as the mamba. sure - missiles are nice decoys(and i spam rockets while approaching turrets with other fighters already) - but they can be shot down rather fast.

when aiming off to the side of the screen, try not to rely on your reticule / crosshair directly. remember that the ships fire in the direction they are pointing, not at where you are necessarily aiming...RA2lover wrote:my main problem with one is getting to land cannon hits at the turrets without heading head-on to them - it just doesn't drift as nicely as the mamba. sure - missiles are nice decoys(and i spam rockets while approaching turrets with other fighters already) - but they can be shot down rather fast.

Re: Hi Folks
I've finally got the steam client running - and got myself a Kingfish and Timberwolf.
i'm amazed at how that bomber can do a flag capture on rock field, get back to deliver the flag and still have half an afterburner tank left, or do laps around the enemy carrier. the Kingfish is a solid multirole ship - but it just doesn't pack the punch required to hunt bombers fast enough. I've been considering getting a quad-MG heavy fighter for that, but i'm not sure of which can perform better on the bomber-hunter role. the Stingray i have can kill bombers in under 10 hits, but can't move fast enough to catch up with faster bombers.
on a sidenote, my aim is still bad with beam cannons, even with a 20-fold increase on framerate.

Re: Hi Folks
If you pump your afterburner in a G5, you can keep up with the bombers better then other fighters. If you remote Detonate your rockets near the bomber you will tear them up and take out their nukes. In my opinion the G5 and the F3X are the best bomber hunters out there. Trust me on this, I fly bombers a lot in CA, those two fighters are the ones who give me the most trouble.

Re: Hi Folks
I've did that already - but the G5 just lacks the firepower necessary to take out a bomber quickly enough.

Re: Hi Folks
Have you considered that people feel the same when you use a bomber in CTF and there's no reason to stick around the same location as you would in Carrier Assault?
Re: Hi Folks
It's not about the bomber, but its escorts.

I Already Fixed It. It Was Just Hard Setting Back Up The Original Hashes.
