here is an idea i have about having a new game mode with different objetives for each side.

the goverment has to escort a number of player controlled freighters(unarmed and slower bison bombers) across the map while the pirates spawning at the sides of the map have to shot down a number of these freighters to win, the safezone for the freighters could be an invulnerable gov carrier or some space station with serious firepower
the gov players can choose to spawn as a freighter at will but they should be really slow with lots of armor, the freighters shouldn't be able to outrun any type of fighter thus making the escorts a necessity and a freighter rush would only mean a fast victory for the pirates

so to make it short the goverment needs to escort for example 30 freighters to the destination while the pirates need to destroy 30 freighters or less (i'll let you choose the number of points to win)

just to make it more interesting freighters could have a bonus for ramming damage

Sounds great and actually fairly similar to something the devs mentions not too long ago about asymetrical missions.

though what they were suggesting is that it would be pirates "warping in" to attack a government carrier and escorts.

the only diference is that the gov pilots have to defend their carrier an AI controlled static object in my idea you have players being the targets to assasinate and at the same time they are the key to their team victory
and they are not static objects for example you could have one freighter with some escorts act as bait while 5 other freighters try to sneak behind an asteroid field
i like the idea of asymetrical missions but defending a carrier seems like a portion of carrier assault in fact one of the best parts of that mode is cooperating with your team to see who attacks and who defends

I see that is a pretty cool Idea. mixes it up a little and I like that.

As for the assault mission the devs described where it would differ is that there would be quite a number of destroyers (and it would be cool if there were multiple carriers). so it would be a bit different but yeah I agree that CA is best with the whole choice of attack and defense simultaneously.

for your Idea a nify concept would be less about killing the frieghters per se and more about cracking them open and grabbing HE-3 to bring back to a jump point. kind of an asymetrical combination of CA (assaulting and destroying a defended ship) and CTF (once blowed up a frieghter would spill HE-3 which could then be grabbed by any one... pirates to retreat to a jump point and Government to protect it)

thats just brilliant! yeah once a freighter is destroyed it spills a canister of He3 the pirates have to take that to their carrier, that way its not only a camp and wait for the freighters the attackers have to kill,steal and retreat while having to watch for the enemy convoy before it escapes

they are similar but not the same thing your idea is about attacking a base and protecting the troop transports mine is about protecting and raiding helium transports controlled by players as agent of change said the transports once destroyed will drop helium canisters that every pirate can pick and take to their carrier it would be like seek and destroy and CTF combined

your idea is cool too i hope the devs implement it
